This year, we’re excited to announce a very special event in New York’s Grand Central Terminal, invite you to watch our annual Back to Hogwarts showcase, and tell you about several cool global events spreading magic all over the world.

## The Harry Potter films return to the big screen

As Harry Potter fans, we have a lot of special cinema memories, from our first time hearing the rousing notes of Hedwig’s Theme to the electric atmosphere of a midnight screening. Now, we’re recreating those magic moments by bringing the Harry Potter films back to theatres all over the world. Expect these special screenings to take place throughout the summer, all the way down to Back to Hogwarts day itself.

## Look out for our Hogwarts Express Snapchat Filters and Lenses 

That iconic red steam engine, the Hogwarts Express, is a huge part of what makes Back to Hogwarts day so special; just think, without that grand old train, Harry would have never known the true wonders of the wizarding world. (Maybe he’d have to just hang out at the Leaky Cauldron – who knows!) 

To commemorate the train in style, we’ve created a fun new filter for Snapchat, where you can summon the Hogwarts Express to classic landmarks across renowned cities across the world: London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, New York City and Tokyo. Try it out on The Eiffel Tower, Copacabana Fort, The
National Gallery, Grand Central Terminal, and the Hachiko Statue. 

If you’re old enough to use Snapchat, simply scan the landmark and watch the train glide into view – as if it was coming to pick you up! Try it out between the 26th August to the 9th September.

That’s not all for Snapchat fun: users will also be able to access two brand new Lenses: one inspired by the Hogwarts house sorting and a homage to the upcoming game, [Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions](https://www.quidditchchampions.com/en-gb), exclusively via the app on 1st September.

The joy of the wizarding world is that it is hidden everywhere, as Harry learnt for himself when he discovered the wonders of Diagon Alley tucked away in London. This year, we want to spread the magic as far and wide as we can, with global festivities wherever you turn.

Expect magical surprises from LEGO retail stores, (and online!) the Warner Bros. Studio Tours, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Destinations & Experiences, to name just a few.

__The UK__

Here at the home of Harry Potter, the UK’s Back to Hogwarts festivities have significantly grown in popularity as more fans join the community. In recognition of this, celebrations are adapting so that as many fans as possible can be part of the magic. We’re inviting fans to take part in new competitions and take part in special events both physically and digitally. 

First – an important notice from us:

* Come 1st September, fans are strongly discouraged from attending Kings Cross Station this year, as there will be no event, departure board or countdown held at the station. Instead, we’ve recruited our resident Hufflepuff (and recently appointed King of the Jungle!) Sam Thompson to be with you all in spirit once again in a specially recorded online programme made in celebration of Back to Hogwarts. * From today, UK and Ireland-based fans are invited to enter a competition to win the ultimate Back to Hogwarts experience. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on 31st August, followed by a stay at the luxurious Grove Hotel. __USA__

* For the first time ever, US fans are invited to a special Back to Hogwarts pop-up, held in the beautiful Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

* The event is free to attend and will be open daily from 30th August to 1st September. So, expect unique performances, exciting LEGO building activities, an interactive [Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions](https://www.wizardingworld.com/quidditch-champions) fan experience , plus contributions from Scholastic, and [Harry Potter and the Cursed Child](https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/cursed-child-collection). Fans will also be able to raise a hearty toast of Butterbeer, courtesy of flagship store, Harry Potter New York!

* On 1st September, there will also be a live hosted 11am countdown moment which fans will need a free ticket to attend. Further details on how to register interest will be announced soon. <p>

__France__ <p> 

It’s not just the Olympics that Paris are hosting this year – they’re also delving into magical sports too! France-based fans can look forward to a special Quidditch-themed event taking place at Parvis de la Part-Dieu in Lyon, between 31st August and 1st September. Visitors can brush up on their Quidditch skills, strike a pose with our Back to Hogwarts-themed photo opps, play games, enjoy giveaways and much more.

__Germany__

Heading to Germany, on 1st September, a special fan event will be held outside the Theatre at Hamburg's Großmarkt, the German home of *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child*. Expect an engaging panel, live countdown, and appearances from special guests. Fans in Munich can also stop by *Harry Potter: The Exhibition* as well as the Wizarding World by Thalia store to celebrate the exciting occasion. 

__Italy__

The iconic Galleria Alberto Sordi in Rome will play host to a fan get together on 1st September, where aspiring wizards and witches can look forward to a live 11am countdown, brand new Harry Potter themed photo opportunities and activities suitable for the whole family. Molto bene, indeed.

__Spain__

Fans in Spain are invited to a special event in Madrid at a soon to be revealed location, which will run between 30th August and 1st September. Festivities include photo opportunities and surprises throughout the day.

__China__

Fans are invited to head to Changsha for this year’s Back to Hogwarts celebration where there is a host of activities in store from 30th Aug – 1st Sept, including photo opportunities, artwork displays, and stalls packed to the brim with Harry Potter goodies.  

On the 1st September, fans in Macau can live their best Hogwarts life at Harry Potter: The Exhibition and explore many fascinating galleries.

__Japan__

In Japan, on 1st September, lucky fans can join a special 11am countdown at Platform 9 ¾ in [Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter](https://www.wbstudiotour.jp/en/)! Guests visiting Universal Studios Japan on the big day should also be ready to raise their wands in celebration as a special event will be put on in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to mark the moment for holders of the special after-hours event pass.

HBO, in association with Warner Bros. Television, has named Francesca Gardiner (HBO’s “Succession” and “His Dark Materials,” “Killing Eve”) as showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod (HBO’s “Succession,” “Game of Thrones” and “The Last of Us”) as executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the upcoming original Harry Potter series. The new series, currently in development, will be available on Max’s expanding global footprint.

__Series Info:__ The series will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved “Harry Potter” book series by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail and much-loved characters “Harry Potter” fans have loved for over twenty-five years. Each season will bring “Harry Potter” and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and cherished films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.

Each piece of writing will be linked together with some fresh editorial observations from the Pottermore Publishing team, alongside a heartfelt foreword from self-confessed superfan Evanna Lynch herself (AKA [Luna Lovegood](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/characters-and-pets/luna-lovegood) in the Harry Potter films).

Following the English language launch, the German, French, Italian and Spanish eBooks and audiobooks will be published in November with further languages anticipated in due course. 

From the Wizarding Archive will be published as both a single volume audiobook and two-volume eBook. Volume One of the eBook will contain 45 articles curated together for the first time, with Volume Two containing the 35 articles that were previously published in 2016 as the ‘Pottermore Presents’ series of three eBooks. Fans will also be able to purchase both Volume One and Two together in a combined edition. 

The main narration has been performed by Evanna Lynch, with Hugh Quarshie, Finlay Robertson and Lara Sawalha reading J.K. Rowling’s original articles, all of which will be delivered alongside enchanting sound design and original music composed by Sara Carvalho. 

All author royalties will be donated by Pottermore Publishing to the Lumos Foundation on behalf of J.K. Rowling, expected to be a minimum of £1 (or the local currency equivalent) for each copy of From the Wizarding Archive sold.

Yes, this September, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is bringing back its popular Dark Arts feature, and it sounds like it’s going to be even more eerie for 2024. 

For the first time ever, Dementors will appear in the Forbidden Forest! But don’t fear – visitors to the Studio Tour will have the opportunity to banish them with their very own Patronus Charm too! 

Down at the Creatures Workshop, fans can learn more about the creation of these mysterious soul-sucking beings, and even take part in an interactive demonstration on how the Dementors were created for the films.

Elsewhere, the Great Hall will be adorned with glowing pumpkins once again, floating magically over the house tables, all courtesy of the talented folks down at the Prop Making Department. An annual tradition we welcome whole-heartedly!  

Expect other Hallowe’en mainstays dotted along your tour experience – such as the now-famous Death Eater procession alongside Dark Mark symbols scattered across the tour that you can keep score of in your activity passport. 

From designing your own Death Eater masks to learning the duelling techniques needed to combat Voldemort’s followers – you’ll learn all about the light and the darkness of Dark Arts this autumn at the Studio Tour. Come along and think a happy thought.

As you can see from the trailer, this new extension invites you to solve new mysteries, visit new places, and revisit some familiar faces. (Or, in the case of Fluffy the three-headed dog, three!) 

On the 17th July, Beyond Hogwarts players will soon get to experience an exclusive new adventure too: The Flight of the Weasleys. Everyone’s favourite wizarding family urgently needs help to fix their famous flying car and reach platform nine and three-quarters before Ginny starts her first term at Hogwarts.

Along the way, players will meet Ron Weasley for the first time, as well as an aged-up Fred and George – who have a suspicious interest in getting the car back up and running...

All this excitement and more to come for you Hogwarts Mystery solvers out there.

Launching from today, the green screen broomstick experience invites you to  have your photo taken flying over enchanting scenes (just like the cast while filming the movies!) including the flying car sequence and even the opportunity to soar over Hogwarts castle - exclusive to Harry Potter New York. Choose from a variety of photo and video packages, available for purchase as a one-of-a-kind souvenir. 

Fans can also look forward to a collection of new-to-the-store props from the Harry Potter films, including the Philosopher's (or Sorcerer’s!) Stone, the [Time-Turner](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/time-turner) Necklace, the Nimbus 2001 broomstick and wands from well known characters, such as Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius Black, Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy. 

To celebrate the new store experiences, from 20th June to 23rd June, fans can enjoy complimentary 30-minute tours spotlighting the props. Tours will start every hour from 9am to 6pm, beginning at the [Butterbeer](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/magical-miscellany/butterbeer) Bar. Don’t miss out – tours are first-come, first-served and limited to 10 people per tour.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child announce their North American tour cast

The cast is a brilliant combination of old and new, with some of the actors having had experience in the hit play before. 

Fresh from his work on the San Francisco run of Cursed Child, John Skelley will once again take the reigns of Harry Potter while Trish Lindstrom returns as Ginny Potter after taking on the role in the Toronto production.
Meanwhile, Emmett Smith will join the Cursed Child family for the first time playing Harry's son, Albus.

Matt Mueller is back as Ron Weasley (he originally played Harry's best friend during the Broadway production) while Ebony Blake moves from ensemble cast to starring as Hermione Granger. Naiya Vanessa McCalla will play their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley.

In the Malfoy camp, Ben Thys will don the blond wig to play a grown-up Draco Malfoy with Aidan Close joining him as his son Scorpius Malfoy.

Delphi Diggory will be played by Julia Nightingale.

They are joined by a super-talented supporting ensemble case including Kaleb Alexander, Julianna Austin, Markcus Blair, Casey Butler, Erin Chupinsky, Reese Sebastian Diaz, David Fine, Simon Gagnon, Alexis Gordon, Caleb Hafen, Lauryn Hayes, Nathan Hosner, Torsten Johnson, Katherine Leask, Markelle Leigh, Mackenzie Lesser-Roy, Evan Maltby, Zach Norton, Travis Patton, Maren Searle, Ayla Stackhouse, Jennifer Thiessen, Timmy Thompson, René Thornton Jr., Kristin Yancy, and Larry Yando playing a variety of characters.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child embarks upon its first-ever North American tour this September, with previews beginning at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on the 10th of September.

The official opening will be Thursday, 26th September. The final performance of the 21-week engagement will be Saturday, 1st of February, 2025 followed by engagements at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles and at the National Theatre in Washington DC.

Warner Bros. Games has today announced that the Hogwarts Legacy Summer 2024 update is officially live on all platforms for those of you who own the game!

The update includes an all-new photo mode, new and previously exclusive content, bug fixes and PC driver updates, and a talent reset option, which allows players to experiment with different builds and play-styles.

Within the update, all players on *all* platforms can now try out the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest, which was previously a PlayStation exclusive.

This unique quest comes rich in rewards, such as the dapper Shop Keeper’s outfit and ownership of your very own shop in Hogsmeade.

The previously exclusive Onyx Hippogriff mount and [Felix Felicis](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/plants-and-potions/felix-felicis) Potion Recipe are also now available to all players, as well as the brand-new Azkaban Coat, Azkaban Prisoner’s Outfit, The Glasses That Lived, and Lavender Borealis Broom. With *Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban* celebrating a special anniversary this year, this feels only too fitting.

With the new Photo Mode, players will be able to create and capture their own in-game screenshots with a wide range of customisation options including exposure, contrast, camera tilt, zoom, depth of field and field of view options. Your Hogwarts memories can now be perfectly captured! Colin Creevey would surely be extremely jealous.

If you want to employ a bit of extra creative license, the time of day and season are also adjustable while in Photo Mode, as well as character poses with several options for standing and seated positions. And these changes to weather and time are then reversed when exiting photo mode - in case you were wondering.

Additionally, players can remove UI and on-screen characters and customise their screenshots with house and character themes, frames, crests, and a variety of filters - so you can make your snaps absolutely perfect. After all, this is your Hogwarts Legacy!
