Quidditch Fact File Body Text

Quidditch was a wizarding sport played on [broomsticks](/fact-file/objects/broomstick). The teams consisted of seven players competing to score the higher number of points, either by the Chasers (three on each team) scoring goals by throwing a Quaffle through a hoop or by the Seekers (one on each team) catching the [Golden Snitch](/fact-file/objects/golden-snitch) - at which point the game ended. Although the Snitch was worth 150 points, a game could be won the team who did not catch the Snitch if enough goals were scored before it was caught. Chasers and Seekers also had to avoid being hit by Bludgers, hard iron balls that were directed across the pitch by Beaters (two on each team). The final position is the Keeper, who would defend their team's hoops from opposing Chasers. Games were usually played by mixed teams, although the Holyhead Harpies were an all-female professional team.

Harry Potter was prophesied to be the downfall of [Lord Voldemort](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/lord-voldemort) and therefore singled out at birth as the Dark Lord's rival. He was known in the wizarding world as 'The Boy Who Lived' after becoming the only known survivor of [the Killing Curse](/fact-file/spells/the-killing-curse), which was attempted by Voldemort when Harry was just a baby, after both his parents were murdered. But despite causing one of the most famous wizarding world events, Harry did not know he was a wizard until his eleventh birthday, due to his Muggle aunt and uncle neglecting to tell him. He would eventually go on to Hogwarts, discover his magical potential, and embark upon several great adventures with his best friends, [Ron](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/ron-weasley) and [Hermione](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hermione-granger).

Albus Dumbledore Fact File Body Text

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was Headmaster of [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) and the founder of the [Order of the Phoenix](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/order-of-the-[phoenix](/fact-file/creatures/phoenix)), an organisation dedicated to defeating [Lord Voldemort](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/lord-voldemort). With a penchant for Muggle sweets and a beard long enough to be tucked into his belt, Dumbledore's quirky exterior should not be taken too lightly, for there was nothing that got past this great wizard. Dumbledore was a father figure for [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter), and known to be the only wizard that Voldemort ever feared.

A man of many achievements, Dumbledore helped develop the [Philosopher's Stone](/fact-file/objects/the-philosophers-stone) with his friend, Nicolas Flamel, and was credited with discovering the twelve uses of dragon's blood.

While most [Muggles](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/muggles) think of a broomstick as a handy tool for keeping their houses clean, in the wizarding world, brooms are not only a useful mode of transportation, but also essential for the game of [Quidditch](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/quidditch). Regulated by [the Ministry of Magic](/fact-file/locations/the-ministry-of-magic)'s Broom Regulatory Control, flying brooms ranged from the very basic to top of the range. [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) has been lucky enough to hold two of the best: a Nimbus 2000, and later, a state-of-the-art Firebolt. Broomsticks can be bought from a number of places, most notably Quality Quidditch Supplies in [Diagon Alley,](/fact-file/locations/diagon-alley) and are one of the most sought-after magical objects for Hogwarts students.

Azkaban Fact File Body Text

The island prison in the middle of the North Sea, Azkaban was a place of confinement for the most dangerous wizards and witches. Guarded by [Dementors](/fact-file/creatures/dementor), life at Azkaban was notoriously brutal with many of its inhabitants losing their minds over the course of their sentence. Many dark witches and wizards passed through Azkaban's gates, including [Bellatrix](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/bellatrix-lestrange) and Rodolphus Lestrange, but as we learnt, it was possible to break out.
