Triwizard Tournament Fact File Body Text

The Triwizard tournament was a 700 year old competition established between three schools; [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, [Durmstrang Institute](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/durmstrang-institute) and and [Beauxbatons Academy](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/beauxbatons-academy) of Magic. One champion from each school was selected to compete in three magical tasks, with their name magically being selected from the [Goblet of Fire](/fact-file/objects/the-goblet-of-fire). The winner of the competition claimed [the Triwizard Cup](/fact-file/objects/the-triwizard-cup) along with a monetary prize. After a hiatus of a number of years, due to a high fatality rate, the Triwizard Tournament returned to Hogwarts during Harry's fourth year at school.

The Goblet of Fire Fact File Body Text

The Goblet of Fire was used in the [Triwizard Tournament](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/triwizard-tournament) as a method of choosing Champions to compete. Dumbledore drew an Age Line around the cup to prevent underage students putting their name in, although this wasn't a foolproof method and didn't stop the Goblet choosing [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) - despite the fact he was below the qualifying age of 17, and that only one Champion per school was supposed to be picked. The Weasley twins also learnt that magically ageing themselves would also not work, growing lovely, thick white beards when they attempted to do so.

George, alongside his twin brother [Fred](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/fred-weasley), could often be found winding up his older brother [Percy](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/percy-weasley), playing pranks on unsuspecting students and imagining new ways to entertain his friends. The twins were also owners of the magical [Marauder's Map](/fact-file/objects/the-marauders-map), a tool that came in handy more than once as the boys traversed the school undetected.

One half of the notorious Weasley twins, along with his brother [George](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/george-weasley), Fred Weasley was more often than not behind any rule breaking that happened at [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts). It wasn't only pranks that kept Fred entertained, he was also an excellent [Quidditch](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/quidditch) player and both brothers were Beaters on the [Gryffindor](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/gryffindor) team. While Fred and George may not have had many O.W.L.s, their natural entrepreneurial skills led them to start their own joke shop, [Weasley Wizard Wheezes](/fact-file/locations/weasleys-wizard-wheezes).
