Perfect pets for young witches and wizards, Puffskeins are cute, fluffy and highly resilient to being thrown around or squeezed too tightly. Round with soft, custard coloured fur, Puffskeins have long pink tongues and make a low humming sound when happy. The Weasley twins bred Pygmy Puffs, a new multicoloured breed that became incredibly popular. [Ginny Weasley](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/ginny-weasley) even came home with one that she named [Arnold](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/arnold).

Kneazle Fact File Body Text

Kneazles are intelligent, cat like creatures that have a talent for spotting those who are less than trustworthy. Distinctive with large ears and lion-like tails, Kneazles have a variety of flecked, spotted and speckled coat colours. The Kneazle makes a good pet when bonded with an owner that it trusts and are particularly favoured for their sixth sense for unsavoury or suspicious characters. [Hermione Granger](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hermione-granger)’s pet cat, [Crookshanks](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/crookshanks) was notably half-Kneazle.

Located behind [the Leaky Cauldron](/fact-file/locations/the-leaky-[cauldron](/fact-file/objects/cauldron)) pub, Diagon Alley was the main shopping street for the UK’s wizarding community. With its ancient buildings and cobbled streets, Diagon Alley was often a busy place, particularly before term started as [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) students rushed to get the books and equipment on their back-to-school lists. Shops such as Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Botts sold everything from wizarding robes to cats, owls, [cauldrons](/fact-file/objects/cauldron) and quills, whilst [Ollivanders](/fact-file/locations/ollivanders) was the go-to place for finding the perfect [wand](/fact-file/objects/wand). The Alley was also home to [Gringotts](/fact-file/locations/gringotts) wizarding bank, and was connected to Knockturn Alley - a more sinister shopping street devoted to the Dark Arts.

Crookshanks Fact File Body Text

[Hermione Granger](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hermione-granger)'s beloved cat, Crookshanks was notably half-[Kneazle](/fact-file/creatures/kneazle) - and seemed to share Hermione's impressive intelligence. With his lion-like features, ginger coat and talent for spotting those who are less than trustworthy, Crookshanks was a useful companion to Hermione and her friends, although his obsession with Ron's pet rat [Scabbers](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/scabbers) did cause friction for a while.
