Death Eaters Fact File Body Text

The Death Eaters were Lord Voldemort’s devoted supporters. Made up of radical and malevolent witches and wizards who used Dark magic with reckless abandon, their cruelty, violence and fanaticism made them a deadly and dangerous force. Although the Death Eaters wore masks to avoid detection, they were recognisable by their Dark Mark, a skull with a serpent in its mouth, branded onto their left forearms. After Lord Voldemort’s supposed death in Godric’s Hollow, the Death Eaters fell into disarray, imprisoned in [Azkaban](/fact-file/locations/azkaban) or going into hiding. However, wizards including [Lucius Malfoy](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/lucius-malfoy), [Bellatrix Lestrange](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/bellatrix-lestrange) and [Peter Pettigrew](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/peter-pettigrew) were quick to announce their continued loyalty upon his return.

The Weasleys Fact File Body Text

The Weasley family were a well established wizarding family and were included in the Sacred Twenty-Eight - a list of [pure-blood](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/pure-blood) wizarding families published in the 1930s. However, the Weasley family were dismissive of the list and were advocates of equality with Muggle-born witches and wizards. The Weasleys lived in a topsy-turvy rural home, [The Burrow](/fact-file/locations/the-burrow), and although they were not wealthy and it was crowded with seven children and constant visitors, there was always room for [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) when he needed a place to stay.

With cliff-top views overlooking the Cornish coast, sea lavender in the garden and white washed walls, Shell Cottage was a remote but idyllic location that was perfect for its use as a safe house for members of the [Weasley](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/the-weasleys) family and their friends during the Second Wizarding War. Bill and his new wife Fleur moved in after getting married and were soon joined by many others on the run from the [Death Eaters](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/death-eaters).

Dobby Fact File Body Text

A [house-elf](/fact-file/creatures/house-elf) who was utterly devoted to [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter), Dobby put himself at great risk (and in serious physical pain) when he went out of his way to protect the young wizard from what Dobby knew would be great danger. His loyalty and great bravery was rewarded eventually as he was freed from his cruel wizarding family with a gratefully received dirty sock.

Fleur Delacour Fact File Body Text

A pupil at French wizarding school, [Beauxbatons](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/beauxbatons-academy), Fleur Delacour travelled to [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) for the [Triwizard Tournament](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/triwizard-tournament). Her name was chosen alongside [Cedric Diggory](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/cedric-diggory), [Viktor Krum](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/viktor-krum)  and, controversially, an unexpected fourth competitor, [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter). Fleur was a popular champion, largely due to her bravery, and skills and quick mind, but also in part to her quarter-[Veela](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/veela) heritage. Fleur returned to France after the Tournament but soon found her way back to the UK where she met and fell in love with Ron's older brother, [Bill Weasley](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/bill-weasley), while working at [Gringotts](/fact-file/locations/gringotts).

With a core of [Thestral](/fact-file/creatures/thestral) tail hair, the [wand](/fact-file/objects/wand) was fifteen inches long and made of elder wood. Loyal to the witch or wizard who has ‘won’ it from its previous owner, the Elder [Wand](/fact-file/objects/wand) was the cause of a huge amount of conflict between those desperate to claim it for their own. The wizarding bank located in [Diagon Alley](/fact-file/locations/diagon-alley), Gringotts was owned and operated by [goblins](/fact-file/creatures/goblin). Dating back to 1474 the cavernous tunnels lead miles underground and stretch out beneath the streets of London, with the highest-security vaults located the deepest. The carts, used to navigate the mine-like deep tunnels, and keys, used to open the vaults, can only be operated by goblins. Although Gringotts was arguably one of the safest places in the wizarding world (as [Hagrid](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/rubeus-hagrid) said, "yeh'd be mad ter try an' rob it"), it has been subject to breaches of its security.
