Cornelius Fudge's successor, Rufus Scrimgeour worked his way up from being an Auror to taking on the role as the Minister for Magic. With his leonine appearance and experience in fighting Dark Arts supporters, Scrimgeour promised a crackdown on Voldemort's sympathisers. Despite his hard stance, Scrimgeour left the Ministry, and himself, vulnerable to infiltration from Death Eaters and Dark magic.
