Here’s how our Wizarding World friends commemorated the big moment.
Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne join the countdown at King’s Cross Station
Fantastic Beasts actors Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne (who play Albus Dumbledore and Newt Scamander respectively in the upcoming second film) gave fans quite the surprise at King’s Cross Station on Saturday – turning up to join the famous countdown to 11 o’clock. As you can imagine, the fans who had congregated there were rather excited about the whole thing. You can catch-up on the whole story here on Pottermore.

While a Knight Bus travelled up and down the UK picking up lucky fans
If you spotted a big purple, magical-looking bus trundling around the UK last week, don’t worry, you’re not imagining things – there really was a specially recreated Knight Bus going on a little UK tour to celebrate the big 1 September moment.
The journey #BackToHogwarts has begun, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride... Check out this Knight Bus which is making its way across the UK tonight, picking up some lucky fans as it goes! pic.twitter.com/eVbMFQoG8j

From Edinburgh to London, the Knight Bus went on a merry journey picking up lucky fans – and was properly decked out to resemble the famous triple-decker vehicle you’ll recognise well from Prisoner of Azkaban. Yes, this does include beds.
We got a new Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald featurette
With all the 1 September hullabaloo, we also got to see a new behind-the-scenes video from the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film, featuring J.K. Rowling talking about the one and only Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s London production got the cake in
1 September is where we find ourselves at the beginning of the play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, with Albus Potter about to embark on his first Hogwarts journey. This could only mean one thing for the London production – cake. And lots of it.

And so did New York
Not to be out-done on the cake front, the New York cast of Cursed Child also celebrated with their own, styled like a Hogwarts letter, naturally. As beautiful as it looks, we would still eat it immediately.
Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne got sentimental
Meanwhile, award-winning screenwriter and playwright, who devised Cursed Child’s story with J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany, posted this lovely message about the iconic day.
#BackToHogwarts and the smell of hopeful bread permeates the carriages of the Express along with the familiar stench of chocolate grogginess. A second year for Scorpius, Albus and Rose is coming down the tracks. Love this day.

And Cursed Child Australia revealed their brand-new cast
And it wasn’t just London who got all the fun. Over in Australia, the Cursed Child cast were revealed for the first time. You can read all about the production, as well as a look at the cast, here.
The Studio Tour in Leavesden went full steam ahead with their celebrations
Back in London, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, which exhibits all the sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter films, had their beautifully recreated Hogwarts Express emit steam for the biggest date on the Wizarding World calendar.
