Cursed Child is now officially back at the Princess Theatre in Australia, where audiences were on-hand to give a moving gesture of thanks to the cast and crew, using magically lit-up wands. Grab a tissue and take a look at how the magical scene unfolded.

After all this time? Always. Yes, the Cursed Child cast and crew in Australia have now returned to their rightful home, after being forced to pause production on their show for nearly 11 months throughout the Covid pandemic. But now – they are very much back - with the magic now properly reinstated at the Princess Theatre. The reunion was deeply poignant for the cast and crew – as you’ll see below - and, of course, the audience.

In these emotional videos, you can see how the audience welcomed home the Cursed Child performers in style, as they were all given their own special wands to light up the auditorium and properly commemorate their return to the stage. After a rapturous applause, the cast looked visibly touched as they gave a special speech to the spectators.

Gareth Reeves, who plays Harry Potter in this production, summed up the scene perfectly, telling the audience, “You made it!” looking notably heart-warmed in the moment. And, of course, Gareth delivered the tender speech about the triumphant return with Paula Arundell (Hermione) and Michael Whalley (Ron) by his side. As Ron and Hermione always should be.

We can also see footage of the thorough health and safety efforts that the gallant staff at the Princess Theatre have implemented to make the venue extra-safe for theatre goers during the pandemic.

As you can see, a lot of hard work has gone into Cursed Child’s momentous comeback at the Princess Theatre, with the magic now back to cast a spell on Australian audiences.

“It means everything, it’s my second home, it’s my church, it’s everything,” said Gareth Reeves. “It’s my family. It’s the place where I belong. It’s where I fulfil my purpose in life, so, you know, it’s pretty big!”

So – without further ado – let the magic begin.
