A Rube Goldberg machine is a specially created series of devices that is designed to generate a chain reaction once triggered. For this Harry Potter-themed challenge, the makers of the machine used the likes of Quidditch balls travelling down ramps, rotating brooms and flying Fawkes figures to make the machine truly come to life.
Many of the references during the Rube Goldberg machine’s journey are taken from the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Some of those standout moments includes a Wizard’s Chess set which emulates the moves Ron takes in the film’s pivotal chess scene, a Hogwarts House Cup on pulleys that generates the actual number of house points won at the film’s climax - and an Invisibility Cloak from WOW! Stuff that floats down to enrobe an 18’ Funko Pop! figure of Harry.
