As the production celebrates its first birthday onstage in Melbourne, it welcomes two new cast members.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will celebrate entering its second year at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre with a gala performance on 1 March 2020. The gala will see the production hit the expected milestone of a record-breaking 326,500 people attending performances, more than any stage play in Australian theatre history.

Excitingly, new cast members have joined the production, with two current cast members stepping into new roles. They begin performances next Wednesday, 26 February.

Let’s meet some of the new faces.

Michael Whalley joins the cast as Ron Weasley...

… and Nyx Calder joins as Scorpius Malfoy.

As for the Potters, Gareth Reeves continues as Harry, Lucy Goleby as Ginny and Sean Rees-Wemyss as Albus.

Also joining the 42-strong cast are Lucy Ansell, Hannah Frederickson, Helen Howard and Naomi Rukavina. Current cast members Gillian Cosgriff and Jessica Vickers are graduating into the roles of Delphi Diggory and Moaning Myrtle respectively.

To celebrate this uncloaking, enjoy a special clip from the Melbourne production here, featuring some special trickery with Polyjuice Potion.

Happy first birthday to cast members old and new!
