The official opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway will be Sunday 22 April at the Lyric Theatre in New York.
Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender announced plans to bring Cursed Child to America last year, including picking the play’s Broadway venue, the Lyric Theatre.
The prestigious theatre is currently undergoing a complete transformation, with the venue being entirely renovated for the premiere.
The West End production of Cursed Child recently won a record-breaking nine Olivier Awards, including Best New Play and Best Director.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new play by Jack Thorne, based on an original, new story devised by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. The play opened at London’s Palace Theatre back in 2016.
