Hurrah, you’ve just picked up some snazzy pins and have officially become a pin seeker. But what are all these mysterious keys on your packaging? And what do those strange words mean? Here’s a guide to keys and codes, which you can unlock with our Harry Potter Fan Club app.

My Remembrall is glowing red and I’ve forgotten about the app – please remind me!

Our official app is a sister version of this website, where you can put all of our Wizarding World news, features, quizzes and beyond, in your pocket! The app is currently only available in the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, but we’ll keep you posted when the app comes to further territories.

If you’re signed up to the Harry Potter Fan Club, you’ll be able to enjoy our extra-special interactive Sorting Experience, which uses AR technology, take part in polls, indulge in daily bite-sized Harry Potter trivia, play puzzles and quizzes, watch iconic clips from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films and look forward to our Wizarding Weeklies, which come out every Wednesday.

What are Enchanted Keys?

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, look out for our special Enchanted Keys, which have a tendency to fly around in all sorts of places!

On your new pins set, you’ll see one waiting for you on the packaging. In the Wizarding World app, there is some wicked sorcery that allows you to scan the code. Just tap the little key icon in the right-hand corner, hover over the key and see what unlocks. For every pin or pin set you buy, there will be a different mini-surprise for you to find, most likely connected to do with what’s on your pin. For example, if you have a Gryffindor pin, you’re not likely to see Draco Malfoy lurking behind it!

What are secret codes?

As well as unlocking keys, you can also type in codes, which are dotted around in all sorts of places, if you’re signed up for the Harry Potter Fan Club. Just like Enchanted Keys, codes unlock even more content just for you.

It could be a stray word in one of our newsletters. It could be in one of our articles. It could be anywhere, so always be on the lookout for random words that seem sporadically placed. If you’re a Harry Potter Fan Club Gold member, you’re likely to find them in even more nooks and crannies, such as in puzzles. The secret code is usually a familiar Wizarding World phrase, name, word or spell. Think of it like trying to get into the Gryffindor common room. And unlike Neville Longbottom, we don’t have a list of these written down anywhere for you!

As such, we won’t tell you where the secret codes live... We’ll leave that to you to discover.

So, there you have it. You can download the Wizarding World app (available in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia) from the App Store or Google Play.
