Combining the gargantuan world of Harry Potter with the magic of theatre was a challenge for renown producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, who mused upon the huge, collaborative efforts involved in bringing Cursed Child to life.

Join us on a trip back to 2016 when Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was about to enchant the London theatre scene, in the days before it had launched new productions all over the world. Here’s the beginnings of the Cursed Child’s journey, with producing team Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, who have helmed so many large-scale West End productions, discussing the inception of the eighth Harry Potter story.

Beyond Sonia and Colin, the pair discuss the whole roster of talent that were involved in the making of the play, of course, featuring the play’s three main pioneers.

‘It’s been an extraordinary collaboration bringing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to the stage,’ said Colin Callender. ‘It’s been a great collaboration between Jo, between Jack Thorne the writer, who is probably as deep and committed a fan of Harry as anyone you might ever met, and John Tiffany, the director.’
