Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests, or N.E.W.T.s, were exams taken in the seventh year of school and determined the career that students might be able to pursue after graduation. Some roles required particular grades, for instance, the Ministry of Magic only accepted Auror applicants with at least five N.E.W.T.s with grades of either Outstanding or Exceeds Expectations.
