Harry Potter Fact File Body Text

Harry Potter was prophesied to be the downfall of [Lord Voldemort](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/lord-voldemort) and therefore singled out at birth as the Dark Lord's rival. He was known in the wizarding world as 'The Boy Who Lived' after becoming the only known survivor of [the Killing Curse](/fact-file/spells/the-killing-curse), which was attempted by Voldemort when Harry was just a baby, after both his parents were murdered. But despite causing one of the most famous wizarding world events, Harry did not know he was a wizard until his eleventh birthday, due to his Muggle aunt and uncle neglecting to tell him. He would eventually go on to Hogwarts, discover his magical potential, and embark upon several great adventures with his best friends, [Ron](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/ron-weasley) and [Hermione](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hermione-granger).

A joke shop founded by the Weasley twins after they'd left school, the shop was funded by [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) and was an immediate success. Offering everything from Pygmy Puffs to Extendable Ears and Skiving Snackboxes, the shop sold inventions by the twins as well as a selection of Muggle magic tricks.

Diagon Alley Fact File Body Text

Located behind [the Leaky Cauldron](/fact-file/locations/the-leaky-[cauldron](/fact-file/objects/cauldron)) pub, Diagon Alley was the main shopping street for the UK’s wizarding community. With its ancient buildings and cobbled streets, Diagon Alley was often a busy place, particularly before term started as [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) students rushed to get the books and equipment on their back-to-school lists. Shops such as Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Botts sold everything from wizarding robes to cats, owls, [cauldrons](/fact-file/objects/cauldron) and quills, whilst [Ollivanders](/fact-file/locations/ollivanders) was the go-to place for finding the perfect [wand](/fact-file/objects/wand). The Alley was also home to [Gringotts](/fact-file/locations/gringotts) wizarding bank, and was connected to Knockturn Alley - a more sinister shopping street devoted to the Dark Arts.

George, alongside his twin brother [Fred](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/fred-weasley), could often be found winding up his older brother [Percy](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/percy-weasley), playing pranks on unsuspecting students and imagining new ways to entertain his friends. One half of the notorious Weasley twins, along with his brother [George](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/george-weasley), Fred Weasley was more often than not behind any rule breaking that happened at [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts). It wasn't only pranks that kept Fred entertained, he was also an excellent [Quidditch](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/quidditch) player and both brothers were Beaters on the [Gryffindor](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/gryffindor) team. The youngest Weasley child and only daughter, Ginny was an accomplished witch and [Quidditch](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/quidditch) player - joining [Gryffindor](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/gryffindor) house alongside her siblings. Ginny might have been a little flustered when she first met [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) as a young witch, but she soon found her footing at school. The youngest Weasley proved herself a skilled Seeker and Chaser, representing Gryffindor on the house team, but she was just as talented with a wand as she was with a broom, specialising in the Bat-Bogey Hex.
