Hogsmeade Fact File Body Text

The only entirely non-Muggle settlement in Britain, Hogsmeade was located in the highlands of Scotland, close to [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts). Pupils were permitted to visit the town in their third year of school, which allowed them to frequent many unique magical shops, pubs and restaurants. Pupil favourites included [Honeydukes](/fact-file/locations/honeydukes) sweetshop and Zonko’s joke shop. Less popular was the supposedly haunted [Shrieking Shack](/fact-file/locations/the-shrieking-shack).

Located in a huge sprawling castle in the Scottish highlands, the celebrated school of witchcraft and wizardry taught its young students how to finesse their magical skills. The Hogwarts Express Body Text

The Hogwarts Express was a scarlet steam engine that took students to [Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) on the 1st September from [Platform Nine and Three-Quarters](/fact-file/locations/platform-nine-and-three-quarters). The idea of a train came from Minister for Magic of the time, Ottaline Gambol, who was looking for a safer method for children to get to school, as Portkeys could make students sick and the [Floo Network](/fact-file/objects/floo-powder) was not fully secure.

Much like a [Muggle](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/muggles) train, the Hogwarts Express is comprised of several carriages (including a specific one for Hogwarts Prefects and the Head Boy and Head Girl) and a range of snacks, provided by the [Trolley Witch.](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/trolley-witch) This was where [Harry](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) met [Ron Weasley](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/ron-weasley), [Hermione Granger](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hermione-granger) and [Neville Longbottom](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/neville-longbottom) for the first time, among others.

The King's Cross train station from which the [Hogwarts Express](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/hogwarts-express) left and arrived, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters could be found by walking (or running) directly into the barrier dividing platforms 9 and 10. The famous scarlet steam engine took students and teachers from London to [Hogsmeade](/fact-file/locations/hogsmeade) the closest station to [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) School.

The Weasleys Fact File Body Text

The Weasley family were a well established wizarding family and were included in the Sacred Twenty-Eight - a list of [pure-blood](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/pure-blood) wizarding families published in the 1930s. However, the Weasley family were dismissive of the list and were advocates of equality with Muggle-born witches and wizards. The Weasleys lived in a topsy-turvy rural home, [The Burrow](/fact-file/locations/the-burrow), and although they were not wealthy and it was crowded with seven children and constant visitors, there was always room for [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) when he needed a place to stay.
