Hogsmeade Fact File Body Text

The only entirely non-Muggle settlement in Britain, Hogsmeade was located in the highlands of Scotland, close to [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts). Pupils were permitted to visit the town in their third year of school, which allowed them to frequent many unique magical shops, pubs and restaurants. Pupil favourites included [Honeydukes](/fact-file/locations/honeydukes) sweetshop and Zonko’s joke shop. Less popular was the supposedly haunted [Shrieking Shack](/fact-file/locations/the-shrieking-shack).

Located in a huge sprawling castle in the Scottish highlands, the celebrated school of witchcraft and wizardry taught its young students how to finesse their magical skills. From the tallest turrets and towers down to the depths of [the dungeons](/fact-file/locations/the-dungeons) (with 142 staircases between them), Hogwarts is structurally supported by magic, and even the school's headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, doesn’t claim to know all of its secrets! [Hogsmeade's](/fact-file/locations/hogsmeade) sweet shop, Honeydukes was crammed with shelves upon shelves of delicious sweets and treats. Although the shop sold ordinary confectionary, such as nougat, coconut ice and toffees, the shop specialised in magical treats like Fizzing Whizzbees and Bertie Botts' Every Flavour Beans, making it extremely popular amongst visiting [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) students. Honeydukes also offered a secret passage back to [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts), leading from its basement to the third floor of the castle behind a large stone statue.

The Marauder's Map Fact File Body Text

A magical map that revealed the plan for [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) School and tracked its human and ghostly inhabitants and their movements, using the the Homonculous Charm. The map was not fooled by Invisibility Cloaks, Polyjuice Potion or Animagi. Created by the four [Marauders](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/marauders); [Remus Lupin](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/remus-lupin), [Sirius Black](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/sirius-black), [Peter Pettigrew](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/peter-pettigrew) and [James Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/james-potter) whilst they were students at the school, the map referred to their aliases as Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs and enabled the boys to traverse the castle and grounds in secrecy. The map could be revealed with a [wand](/fact-file/objects/wand) tap and the words 'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good' and hidden with another tap and the words 'Mischief managed.'
