The Knight Bus Fact File Body Text

A magical bus that appeared whenever a witch or wizard was in urgent need of transportation, all they had to do was stick a [wand](/fact-file/objects/wand) arm out at the kerb for it to instantly appear. Distinctive in appearance, the Knight Bus was purple and triple-decker with seats during the day and beds at night. [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter) accidentally summoned the Knight Bus when he was forced to escape Privet Drive, where he endured a bumpy ride to [the Leaky Cauldron](/fact-file/locations/the-leaky-[cauldron](/fact-file/objects/cauldron)). During Harry's encounter with the bus, [Stan Shunpike](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/stan-shunpike) was the bus conductor.

A single fare for the Knight Bus came to 11 Sickles, although hot chocolate and a tooth brush would cost you extra.

Number Four, Privet Drive was the pristine, suburban home of [Vernon](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/vernon-dursley) and [Petunia Dursley](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/petunia-dursley) and their son [Dudley](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/dudley-dursley), located in the Surrey town of Little Whinging. After the death of his parents, a young Harry Potter was sent to live with his uncle and aunt who took him in reluctantly and refused to acknowledge his magical talents. Despite their resistance, the Dursleys couldn't prevent the wizarding world from encroaching on their suburban idyll. From an unwanted house elf to the arrival of [the Weasleys](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/the-weasleys) through the sitting room fireplace, the family often found themselves fending off the magic they detested.

When Harry escaped [Privet Drive](/fact-file/locations/number-four-privet-drive) and had nowhere to go, he was delighted to be picked up by the [Knight Bus](/fact-file/objects/the-knight-bus), emergency transport for stranded witches and wizards. The bus was kitted out with beds and had hot chocolate served by the conductor, Stanley Shunpike. Stan had a habit of telling tall tales in order to impress people, which could occasionally get him into trouble!

Phoenix Fact File Body Text

The phoenix is a rare but powerful magical bird, able to burst into flames and be reborn from the ashes. As a result, they can live to a very old age. Resplendent in crimson and gold, phoenixes have tails as long as a peacock with feathers that glow faintly in the dark. In the wild, phoenixes can be found on mountain peaks but they can also in rare cases, be domesticated, making very loyal pets. [Albus Dumbledore's](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/albus-dumbledore) pet phoenix, [Fawkes](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/fawkes) demonstrated these qualities along with the ability to cure injuries with his tears and to carry huge weights.

Azkaban Fact File Body Text

The island prison in the middle of the North Sea, Azkaban was a place of confinement for the most dangerous wizards and witches. Guarded by [Dementors](/fact-file/creatures/dementor), life at Azkaban was notoriously brutal with many of its inhabitants losing their minds over the course of their sentence. Many dark witches and wizards passed through Azkaban's gates, including [Bellatrix](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/bellatrix-lestrange) and Rodolphus Lestrange, but as we learnt, it was possible to break out.
