The search for the next Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger is underway!

Today, an open casting call for residents of the UK and Ireland has been announced for the new HBO Original series adaptation of Harry Potter. The series is officially looking for actors aged between 9 and 11 on April 2025 to take on the roles. Applicants must be a UK or Ireland resident to be considered, and, naturally, must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

The TV series, which will serve as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, [recently found its showrunner](https://www.wizardingworld.com/news/hbo-harry-potter-series-finds-writer-director) – Francesca Gardiner, while Mark Mylod will direct several episodes and serve as executive producer. He joins fellow executive producers, J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV and David Heyman of Heyday films.

Alas, unlike the wizarding community, we cannot travel via [broom](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/objects/broomstick) or [Hippogriff](https://www.wizardingworld.com/fact-file/creatures/hippogriff). However, we can now track our distinctly Muggle activities in a fun new way with The Conqueror app’s new Harry Potter collaboration.

The idea behind the Conqueror app is to track your exercise (such as walking, cycling or running) and be rewarded every time you log your progress via in-app trials. 

In this Harry Potter collaboration, fitness fans can retrace Harry’s adventures through four virtual challenges, inspired by the events of the first four books, from *Philosopher/Sorcerer’s Stone* through to *Goblet of Fire*.

Created with a custom virtual map, every step you take becomes part of your adventure – starting at Privet Drive, and taking you through to Hogwarts, where you’ll unlock iconic moments from the stories as you amp up your activities. 

You can even gain points for your Hogwarts house throughout your journey, enjoy pop-up quizzes, and look forward to sporadic tasks, such as trying to catch the Golden Snitch. Your efforts will be rewarded too: with each challenge completed, you’ll earn a real-life Harry Potter medal and other goodies. 

The more distance you cover, the more content unlocks as your adventure unfolds. You can even play as a group if you need a bit of help! And the best part is: all sorts of exercise count for points (If only we could log Quidditch!) so whatever you do, make it part of your Harry Potter adventure.

Come along (if you dare!) to a spine-chilling after-hours event, where you will be immersed into the Dark Side of the wizarding world at the Studio Tour across two evenings: 30th and 31st October 2024.

On the cusp of Hallowe'en, the Studio Tour will once again be plunged into darkness. Begin your journey in the Great Hall where the ceiling is full of Jack-o-Lantern pumpkins before continuing your journey through a darkened Studio Tour while stopping at the trick-or-treat sweet stations. We caution you to be on your guard as Death Eaters could storm Hogwarts at any moment. 

Once you've composed yourself - enjoy a cocktail or mocktail, and be sure to strike a pose and memorialise the night with a souvenir digital photo to take home.

Have we mentioned it's Back to Hogwarts season? Okay, we've maybe mentioned it one or two times. We just like to (Hogwarts) express ourselves, you know?

Anyway, today we have a new special treat for you as we get ready to usher in a brand-new Hogwarts term. We've created a selection of new Snapchat lenses for you to try out. You can try on the Sorting Hat, send the Hogwarts Express to iconic round-the-world landmarks, or embrace your inner Quidditch hero with our special Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions feature.

Every year on 1st September, Harry Potter fans all over the world gather together to say “Happy Back to Hogwarts!” That’s right, it’s the start of a brand new term.

## A special countdown at New York’s Grand Central Terminal at Vanderbilt Hall – and a very special guest

For the first time ever, we joined together at New York’s iconic Grand Central Terminal to countdown to 11 o’ clock after a beautiful weekend of festivities. 

Hosted by Kierra Lewis, fans gathered in the beautiful (and may we say, very Hogwarts-esque!) Vanderbilt Hall to countdown to 11 o’ clock: that special moment where the Hogwarts Express sets off for school. 

And just when we thought the moment couldn’t get any more spellbinding – special guest Bonnie Wright, AKA Ginny Weasley, surprised the visitors by coming along to say hello too! Thankfully, no Bat Bogey Hexes were cast. All good vibes here.

## Sam Thompson got the party started in the UK

## Round-the-world cinema screenings 

All throughout the summer, cinemas across the world have been dusting off our favourite Harry Potter films and putting them back on the big-screen. And throughout September – this is all still going on! ## International events took place all over the world – and still are!

Beyond the film screenings, there are so many amazing Back to Hogwarts celebrations going on in different countries right now. For example, in Spain, Príncipe Pío Station has had a magical makeover, with a mini Hogwarts Express appearing outside, as if by magic.

In the UK, lucky competition winners had the unique opportunity to dine like Hogwarts students at a VIP 'Welcome Feast' in the magnificent setting of the Great Hall at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London on 31st August. They tucked into a special dinner reminiscent of the *Philosopher's Stone's* start-of-term feast - served family-style - before experiencing the Studio Tour. On 1st September, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London toasted the 11am countdown at the Platform 9 ¾ set for fans at the Tour.

Meanwhile, in Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter, 300 fans, joined by Genki Hirakata, who plays Harry in the Japanese production of *Cursed Child,* joined the countdown in time for celebrating the special moment at their version of the very same platform!

In Osaka, Universal Studios Japan fittingly welcomed 934 (get it?) guests to celebrate Back to Hogwarts at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the first time. The festivities included exclusive access to the land and a special Hogwarts castle walk, in addition to the *Cursed Child's* famous Wand Dance.

## Vanderbilt Hall's magical makeover

Located on the iconic 42nd street in Manhattan, Grand Central Terminal has been one of New York's most beloved train stations since 1913. Since then, its beautiful architecture and Beaux-Arts design has made it one of New York's top tourist destinations. And a great place to catch trains, of course!

This week, we went inside the station to give the grand Vanderbilt Hall a proper Hogwarts makeover, complete with house banners and our very own version of Hogwarts' high table. Yes, the Vanderbilt Hall has become the Great Hall. 

We even had our very own version of Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore (courtesy of the New York's *Cursed Child* family!) join us for the fun, feeling like a real-life start-of-term feast.

## A fabulous Cursed Child wand dance kicked off the weekend 

The production of *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child* in New York is still casting a spell all over Broadway - and we were honoured to see some of the cast appear at Grand Central to help open our fabulous weekend. 

Performing the famous Wand Dance from the award-winning play, it was the perfect way to kick off proceedings.

## Fans got snap-happy with photo opportunities and immersive experiences

Now it was time to get the weekend party going. Fans (dressed up to the nines, of course) descended upon Vanderbilt Hall to try out some beautiful photo opps scattered across the room. For example, we simply adored the LEGO edition of the Mirror of Erised, which used special motion-capture technology to transform the subject into a cute little minifigure.

For *Cursed Child* fans, a beautiful bookcase and Time-Turner display (reminiscent of Hermione's Ministry office in the play) made us feel like we we characters in the production.

Then there's the small matter of the upcoming game [Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions](https://www.wizardingworld.com/quidditch-champions) - which set up an incredible, immersive experience for sporting fans. Vanderbilt Hall's guests were invited to a pre-match pep talk, an examination of a Quidditch tactics board (from a real-life Quidditch coach too!) and got to fully envelop themselves into the game.

Seeing as Muggles usually have a tough time finding Hogwarts - we brought Hogwarts to New York.

## A smorgasbord of magical goodies

Alongside Hogwarts itself, we also gave visitors a little Diagon Alley moment. Time to shop! From a personalised Hogwarts letter station to magical objects to wands upon wands upon wands... there was Harry Potter goodies as far as the eye could see. You could even pop outside for a refreshing Butterbeer.

## The Sorting Hat made an appearance, naturally 

On top of everything else, we like to think the four Hogwarts houses found a few new members this weekend!

Kierra Lewis recently became initiated into the wizarding world family by experiencing the Harry Potter stories for the first time - much to the amusement of all of her followers. And look at her now! Hosting the iconic countdown to 11am on Back to Hogwarts day in New York City, doing an amazing job. We love this for her.

And Kierra wasn't alone! Yes, we brought along Harry Potter royalty, Bonnie Wright (AKA Ginny Weasley) to come and join the festivities. And needless to say, the guests was just a little bit surprised!

And better yet, they were playing Imogen Heap's ethereal score from *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child*. No, *you're* crying.

Today, Warner Bros. Games has revealed an exciting new video from their upcoming game Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions… a first look at the Quidditch pitches of the iconic Triwizard schools! 

What makes this particularly special, is that this game is the very first time the Durmstrang Institute or the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic have been adapted and brought to life from the pages of the Harry Potter stories.

As you fly through the Career Mode of this upcoming Quidditch game, you will have the opportunity to take part in the Triwizard Schools Quidditch Cup. The best bit? You can decide which of the three Triwizard schools you would like to play for. 

Maybe you’re a Seeker who wants to channel their inner Viktor Krum for Durmstrang. Or perhaps being a Beauxbatons Beater is more your vibe? You might want to follow in the footsteps of Oliver Wood and be an unstoppable Keeper for Hogwarts. 

However you want to play, you can also discover these incredible pitches in the PVP and Exhibition Modes.

We managed to spot so much in this latest video! If you look closely, you’ll spy the Pyrenees mountains, rolling greenery and manicured lawns surrounding Beauxbatons. And did you spot the Northern Lights and the famous Durmstrang ship? Let’s not forget the most iconic of them all – Hogwarts. 

We even managed to catch a glimpse of their campus exteriors beyond the borders of the Quidditch pitch. It’s going to be difficult to decide which Triwizard School we would like to play for!
