Ottery St Catchpole was a village in the Devon countryside populated by a number of wizarding families – including the Weasleys. After the International Statute of Secrecy was signed in 1689, witches and wizards went into hiding and formed communities within communities – for support and protection. One such community was Ottery St Catchpole.
