IT'S MAGIC!

Magic Comes to Life

The clock struck midnight, the movie rolled, and fans were estatic. It was magic brought to life by the wizards of Hollywood. The Harry Potter movie very much lived up to the eerie, magical world of Harry Potter. Fans "oooohhed" and "ahhhed" at the special effects, giggled, and cheered with the action.

True to the Book

Just as it was promoted, it was true to the book - although there were a small number of variations. Right now, we do not know why those were put in, but they do not ruin the movie at all. Many of the changes that were made and the scenes that were missing were for the reason that they told us - so that they could fit it into 2 1/2 hours! Not a problem.

We did see two issues that might concern some of the readers. If you are a fan of the mystery aspects, you might be a bit disappointed there. Also, if you were looking to get emotionally involved in the inner psyche of the characters, there wasn't enough time to develop the characters to the level that we have come to know in the books. Having said that, the action and atmosphere more than make up for it! The movie has cast these chracters to be true to their parts and they were acted magnificently.

Action...Action...Action...

Was the movie really 2 1/2 hours?? No way...was it really? It just flew by. The adventures were non-stop. Indiana Jones ain't got nothin' on Harry. When it comes to fighting creatures and thwarting spells, Harry and his budds were daring and chivalrous. The Quidditch match was a true sport - no whimps there!

Decisions, Decisions

So who was your favorite character?

    "I loved Hermione,"
    "Harry's my favorite,"
    "Ron rocks,"
    "I really liked Hagrid,"
    "I want a Norbert [dragon]!"
These were just some of the comments we were given. Kids related to the characters. Young adults who had not read the books thought it was really funny - better than they expected. Our favorite here at WWP was (don't laugh) Snape. He was a great meanie!

What Our Visitors are Saying

The comments have been coming in, and there is no question that there is a concensus of opinion. Everyone had a wish to see more...more...more! Readers were passionate about their vision of the books, so they all seemed to feel that something important to them was missing. However, EVERYONE was amazed at how well the movie re-created the "magic" of the books, and they found that the actors were faithful to their characters. Non-readers liked the movie better than they expected!

GARY says: The movie was AWESOME, but I think they missed alot of my favourite parts in the book. (didn't the gryffindor quidditch team play in more than one game???) well i thought it was amazing with the special effects and the actors were brilliant. i'm going to see it again!!!

NANCY from CHICAGO says: I think it was so wonderful that I am going to bring my mother to see it!

PHIL from IOWA says: Quidditch - awesome. Acting - great, especially Coltrane and Rickman. Hogwarts looked like I thought it should! I really wish they could have made it another 2 1/2 hours longer to get more scenes in though...

ASHLEY from OHIO says: harry potter the movie out takes some awsome parts like prof. snapes chamber or the last month at the dursleys but other than that it was like reading the book again. Watching the movie made everything come back in a high color dream land.

TAYLOR says: I thought Harry Potter was awsome I saw two times! I thought Harry Was hot! And Harry was my favourite actor! It was the Best ever!

CATHERINE from NEW YORK says: It was wicked. Hermione and Ron stole the show!
